Project #1

This chair was obviously very well loved and used. You can see a piece of plywood here screwed to the bottom in order to hold the springs in. The webbing had let go and so the plywood was installed by the household handyman. Once inside the damage was pretty apparent, all new webbing, springs and seating was required.

Here the webbing has been replaced and the springs are being sewn into position. The webbing in the arms had also caved out from people pushing on them, so this was replaced and new padding on the inside stapled on top.

Once the springs are in place a covering is laid over top and the edge role sew onto the edge wire. This prevents the seating from falling between the springs and gives support at the front edge of the padding so it doesn't just slide forward as the chair is used over the years. The picture below shows the completed project ready to go home. A double piping was used as trim to cover where staples held the fabric in place. Anything else may have taken away from the beautiful wooded arms.
