We do a variety of custom lampshades: the traditional hand stitched, more modern plastic lined and even some with artwork added to enhance the piece. The following is a look into the ideas we work with. Stay tuned for more artistic designs in the fall. You can also bring your ideas for us to create for you.
The four lampshades above are the traditional hand stitched shades. They are made on a shaped metal frame, the wires are wrapped and then the fabric hand stitched onto the frames. A trim or "gimp" is glued over the stitching to hide it and give the frame a finished look. We have a large selection of wire frames to choose from or for the DIYers.
These three pictures are the kind in which there is only a top and bottom hoop and the plastic creates the structure. Quite often this plastic deteriorates over time and crumbles. Getting a little artsy with this shade, it was made to appear plain when the light is off. When the light is turned on the artwork shows through and adds another element to the room.
